Is it just us, or did 2024 sneak in and before we knew it, Spring arrived? CAIPER is wrapping up one of the busiest seasons ever, not only for specific projects, but for the center in general.

As we continue to re-imagine team-ness through collaborations, we’re blazing new pathways interprofessional research and education and truly excited to share these initiatives with you soon.

CAIPER 2024: New Year, New Website

The freshly updated CAIPER website is here just in time for new training product launches and research initiatives. Coming off of an exciting 2023, including receiving the National Academies of Practice, Creativity in Practice and Education Award, it was time we had a website refresh. In true interprofessional fashion, through several months of collaboration with Edson College MarCom, we are thrilled for our new website launch and hope you find it resourceful, impactful, and have some fun, too!

CAIPER, the Arizona Nexus, and Edson College partners to be front and center at the Nation’s foremost interprofessional meeting – The 2019 Nexus Summit

Edson College and Arizona Nexus IPE initiatives will be shared in workshops, conversation café’s and lightning round talks at the upcoming Nexus Summit, sponsored by the National Center for Interprofessional Practice and Education.

Announcing CAIPER's New Director

 

The CAIPER team is thrilled to share the announcement of our new Director, Barret Michalec, PhD.

Dr. Michalec joins CAIPER and Edson College of Nursing and Health Innovation from the University of Delaware, where he was an Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology and Associate Dean of Interdisciplinary Initiatives & Interprofessional Education within the College of Health Sciences.

Dr. Michalec will build on CAIPER's nationally recognized work and expand impact and reach through new initiatives and research.

September 15, 2020

Transforming the Interprofessional Clinical Learning Environment

 

Arizona State University and Dignity Health are collaborating on a new 18-month interprofessional primary care education project funded by a $525,000 grant from the ASU – Dignity Health Collaborative Strategic Initiatives Program.

The project will bring together clinicians, students, faculty, patients and caregivers to design and launch the interprofessional primary care clinical learning environment of the future.

Just Published! Comic-Style Research Article

 

Released in September 2020 from the Annals of Internal Medicine (Impact Factor: 21.32) CAIPER Center Director and Josiah Macy Jr. Foundation Faculty Scholar, Barret Michalec, PhD, along with Ian Sampson, MFA, and Frederic W. Hafferty, PhD, are the authors of one  of the only research articles presented entirely in the form of comics.

CAIPER Director Awarded Harvard Macy Institute Art Museum-Based Health Professions Education Fellowship

 

Through his Fellowship, Dr. Barret Michalec will develop an experiential-learning program for undergraduate health profession students. The program will be primarily pre-med and nursing students, but open to other health pre-professionals as well. It will connect clinical experiences to explore and to have engagement with specific elements of the arts and humanities.
