Olivia Buffington: A Video-Assisted Interprofessional Simulation Event
Olivia Buffington: An Interprofessional Simulation Event was developed by an expert team of health professions educators and instructional media specialists to align with the Interprofessional Education Collaborative (IPEC®) Core Competencies for Interprofessional Collaborative Practice. Interprofessional simulation events often leverage the expertise of clinicians and trained standardized patients. However, scheduling, coordinating, preparing, and compensating these professionals can be costly, complicated, and time-intensive. Implementing a blended, video-assisted approach is well-suited to address these bottlenecks. By engaging in this simulation event, learners will be able to:
- Define interprofessional education.
- Describe the roles of fellow health professions team members encountered in the event, and how they contribute to patient care.
- Utilize an interprofessional team approach to develop a patient care plan that identifies the two top priorities to be addressed by a health care team.
Below you will find the complete package of materials to guide you through facilitating a video-assisted interprofessional simulation. Begin by reading the facilitator guide, which will introduce the simulation and materials.
