CAIPER is excited to be participating in this year’s Collaboration For Compassion in Healthcare Education conference (C4CHEd) at University of Plymouth, England, where Director Dr. Barret Michalec will be unveiling CAIPER’s newest program, I-TEAM By Design™: Interprofessional Training in Empathy, Affect and Mindfulness.
A conference for compassion
Collaboration for Compassion in Healthcare Education (C4CHEd)The C4CHEd conference is an excellent opportunity for health care educators and practitioners to join an important and growing field of study in health care – compassion. This conference aims to take attendees beyond the discussions:
"To promote, celebrate, study and disseminate the work of those who highlight compassion as integral, essential to effective and humane healthcare. Compassion is not optional, it underpins sustainable, cost effective and clinically relevant healthcare and has never been more necessary – for patient and healthcare staff alike."
The C4CHEd conference is free to attend with registration. The conference will take place on Wednesday, December 15th from 9:45-4:30 GMT. Please note that all conference and session times are listed in GMT. Visit this handy tool to convert to your local time zone.
Let’s go to the gym! Interprofessional approaches to empathy, humility, emotional intelligence and mindfulness
I-TEAM By Design™ focuses on expanding interpersonal and interprofessional skills to promote psychological safety, connectivity, and effectiveness within teams. Given the goals of our program, we thought this year’s C4CHEd conference would be the perfect venue for the first sneak peek into I-TEAM By Design™.
Speaking about the program, Dr. Michalec said:
"Health professionals and health profession students are often told “Be more empathic.” and “Be more of a team player.” – but what does that even MEAN? Well I-TEAM By DesignTM spells it out for you in ways that relate to your professional development as well as you as a person, because you are more than your professional role.
We do this by first dissecting the concepts and debates surrounding such hot topics as empathy, humility, emotions, mindfulness, and then outlining how and why these attributes and practices are ‘good’ for patient-centered, team-based healthcare delivery as well as your own personal well-being.
We couldn’t be more excited to showcase a preview of this program to the C4CHEd audience. What a great opportunity."
Join us at C4CHEd!
Dr. Michalec will present, An Introduction to I-TEAM By Design™: Interprofessional Training in Empathy, Affect, and Mindfulness, at 2:00pm GMT (9:00am EST and 7:00am MST/MDT) at the 2021 C4CHEd conference on December 15, 2021.
