Back by Popular Demand! Design Thinking for Interprofessional Care at Nexus Summit 2018

In 2017, CAIPER partnered with SmithGroupJJR to lead an interactive workshop on using design thinking to come up with creative solutions to challenging problems in interprofessional practice and education. The workshop was such a big success that CAIPER and SmithGroupJJR were invited back to present Design Thinking 2.0 at the upcoming Nexus Summit 2018 conference in Minneapolis, July 29-31.

Building on their successful Introduction to Design Thinking at the 2017 Summit, this year’s Leveraging Design Thinking for Team-Based Care offers a deeper dive into design thinking techniques like journey mapping, application of metaphors, and hands-on prototyping.

“Design thinking has allowed me to expand the array of tools I have to solve some really complicated interprofessional puzzles, like creating educational materials for both faculty and practitioners or improving care coordination for very vulnerable populations."

-Gerri Lamb, Director of CAIPER and faculty member for the Summit 2018 Workshop

Design thinking in action

The best way to learn design thinking is to experience it. Take a few minutes to watch the video below of last year’s workshop. Educators and Practitioners are actively engaged in solving real problems and thinking and playing together.

What's new in Design Thinking 2.0

For those of you who attended last year’s design thinking workshop, Design Thinking 2.0 will provide the opportunity to briefly review the five steps associated with Design Thinking then apply them to interprofessional challenges you’re dealing with. For those of you who are new to this methodology, Design Thinking 2.0 provides both an introduction and a chance to work with workshop teams, designers and healthcare faculty who will immerse you in a new way of thinking and solving problems.
